The story behind Canada's most trusted pizza blog.
We believe every Canadian deserves to know where to find the perfect slice — whether it's a late-night pepperoni from a corner takeout spot in Halifax or a wood-fired Margherita at a fine dining establishment in Vancouver.
Maple Slice Reviews was founded in 2022 with a simple premise: pizza is Canada's most popular takeout food, yet there was no dedicated, independent resource helping Canadians navigate the thousands of pizzerias across the country. Restaurant review platforms cast a wide net, covering everything from sushi to steakhouses. We wanted to go deep on pizza — and only pizza.
Our editorial team visits pizzerias anonymously, paying for every meal out of our own budget. We never accept complimentary meals, sponsorships, or advertising from the restaurants we review. This independence is the foundation of everything we do. When we say a pizzeria's cheese blend is exceptional or their crust falls flat, you can trust that it's our honest assessment.
Beyond reviews, we're passionate about helping Canadians navigate the increasingly complex world of food delivery. Our guides compare ordering platforms, test delivery speeds, and provide practical tips for getting the best possible takeout experience. We believe that whether you're dining in or ordering from your couch, you deserve hot, delicious pizza and a fair deal.
We're also deeply committed to celebrating Canada's diverse pizza culture. From Montreal's unique thick-crusted, loaded-to-the-edge style to the artisan sourdough movement in Ontario's cottage country, Canadian pizza has its own identity — and it deserves recognition.
The pizza-obsessed writers behind every review and guide
Founder & Editor-in-Chief
Sarah spent a decade as a food journalist at major Canadian publications before launching Maple Slice Reviews in 2022. Born and raised in Toronto, she's eaten pizza in every province and territory — yes, including Nunavut. Her philosophy is that great pizza doesn't require fancy ingredients; it requires care, consistency, and a properly heated oven. When she's not reviewing pizzerias, Sarah teaches food writing workshops at Centennial College and volunteers with a community kitchen program in Regent Park.
Delivery & Technology Editor
James combines his background in data analytics with a genuine passion for food. After working in product management at a Toronto tech startup, he joined Maple Slice Reviews to bring a data-driven approach to delivery platform comparisons. James personally tested over 200 delivery orders across Canada for his platform comparison series. He's particularly interested in how technology is changing the way Canadians order food and the economics behind delivery pricing. James holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo.
Quebec & Atlantic Canada Correspondent
Marie-Claire brings the francophone perspective to Maple Slice Reviews. A native of Trois-Rivières with a culinary arts diploma from ITHQ in Montreal, she covers the vibrant pizza scenes in Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Her deep knowledge of Montreal-style pizza — from the classic "all-dressed" to the emerging gourmet scene in the Plateau — has made her our go-to authority on Eastern Canadian pizza culture. Marie-Claire also covers the growing donair pizza trend in the Maritimes and is working on a long-form feature about Acadian pizza traditions.
